Not one to sit still for long, Nerissa finds fulfillment in a wide variety of activities.
“Wait! Someone who uses a wheelchair can rock climb?!” Yes, they can! Using her own unique style, Nerissa is able to free climb.
Prior to her illness, Nerissa could often be found meandering out in nature for several hours every day.
Nerissa has come to realize that one of the greatest activities for equalizing different ability types is kayaking.
Before her mobility declined, Nerissa was an avid big mountain skier. While it took her 5 years to figure out how to get back on the mountain, she finally did!
While never considering herself a professional, Nerissa loved dancing. When she began using a wheelchair she wasn’t sure how to continue, but she has found a way! Currently she is developing a new style: wheelchair tap.
Nerissa doesn’t like to limit herself to only developed and/or ADA accessible campsites. She prefers to “rough it” and shows that dispersed camping with a disability is absolutely possible.
